Janine Jackowski studied Production and Media Management at the Munich Academy for Television and Film from 1998 to 2002. While studying in 1999 she founded the film production company Komplizen Film together with Maren Ade. Following her first short films she produced Maren Ade’s graduation film “The Forest for the Trees” which received the Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2005 and was nominated for the German Film Award as Best Film that same year. Janine Jackowski continued to produce “Everyone Else” 2009 by Maren Ade, “Sleeping Sickness” 2011 by Ulrich Köhler and “Tabu” 2012 by Miguel Gomes; these three feature films premiered in competition at the Berlinale and received three Silver Bears, the Alfred-Bauer-Award as well as the FIPRESCI Prize.
She works with directors such as Maren Ade, Benjamin Heisenberg, Sonja Heiss, Jan Bonny, Vanessa Jopp, Ulrich Köhler, Valeska Grisebach, Miguel Gomes, Barbara Albert, Jasmila Zbanic and Marc Rothemund. Janine Jackowski has been selected to be part of the Producer on the Move program in 2009, the ACE 22 Development Workshop 2012/13 and is a member of the German and European Film Academy. |
